Requirements for residential disability care staff generally include background checks, a high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 18 years old, and drug and alcohol screening as needed. Some roles require specific training, such as initial and ongoing emergency preparedness and CPR certification, as well as experience working with individuals with disabilities. ​
